Requesting an address verification

In this guide, you will learn how to request an address verification through Mesh ID.

Go to

1. Click “Create a new person”

Log into Mesh ID, and open one of your projects (or create a new one if necessary). Click on the “Create a new person” button at the top of your screen.

2. Fill in “First name” and “Last name”

Enter the first and the last names of the person you would like to verify in the specified fields and press “Save”.

3. Click “Start” or “Close”

On the next screen you can click on the “Start” button if you would like to proceed, or on the “Close” button if you prefer to finish the process later.

4. Select “Address verification”

On the next screen select “Address verification” and click on the “Next” button.

5. The configuration screen

Now you can configure your verification according to your preferences. You can adjust the following items: address to be verified, iDIN verification, enhanced verification, supporting evidence. Let’s take a look at each of these features separately.

6. Address to be verified

Here you can decide whether you would like your client to provide you with their address, or if you prefer to prefill it for them. In case you select the latest option, you can search for the address in the search field or type it in manually.

Please ensure you provide us with your client’s complete address including all the data points such as house number, street, city, postal code, country etc. Please note that if you prefill the address for your client, they will not be able to change it.

8. iDIN verification

iDIN verification is a secure and widely used online identification and authentication system in the Netherlands. It allows individuals to verify their address through their bank account. Please note it is only available for the Netherlands.

9. Enhanced verification

By selecting “Enhanced verification” you are asking Mesh ID to send a verification letter by physical mail to your client. The letter contains a unique code your client is asked to type into the system once they receive the letter.

This way they can prove they have access to the address they claim to reside at. Please note that it takes around 5 business days for the letter to arrive.

11. Supporting evidence

If you need to request a document for the purposes of address verification, you can do it from the “Supporting evidence” section. You can specify the accepted document(s) or include custom documents.

Please note that choosing multiple document types grants your client the flexibility to provide any document from the list; there’s no requirement to upload all listed documents. Additionally, you can include a brief message to convey further instructions or information to your client.

13. Verification link

Once you checked your preferred configuration, click “Save”. You will be redirected to the last step of the process, which is sharing the verification link you just generated. There are two ways how you can do this.

You can copy the link and send it to your client directly via your preferred communication method. Alternatively, you can type in the email address of your client and click “Send”. Mesh ID will then send an email with the verification link to your client on your behalf.
